“Every small step in the right direction becomes the start of something amazing”. Many people are drifting through life thinking ‘this is my lot’ and settle for second best and not loving their life. The result however is that these people are not using their abilities to effectively create the life they long for or the life they deserve.
Are you living life as it comes to you? Are you loving your life? Are you frustrated because you can’t unleash your full personal power to make a difference to your happiness? Well, you don’t have to lead each day frustrated by the lack of positive action anymore.
Here are 5 steps towards loving yourself – which is where the change happens before you start to notice it in your life.
- Affirm it – Focus on what you want (not on what you don’t want)
Every person has a natural potential that far exceeds their ability to fully use in a single lifetime. It doesn’t matter what you have achieved or not achieved in the past because your past no longer matters. What is important is to decide what you want to achieve from now on. Affirm it, focus on it and it will happen.
- Having Self-Awareness by checking in on your thoughts.
How is this possible? Well, what you think about most is attracted to you. Your thoughts are creative and powerful. What you think about most becomes your reality whether it is intentional or not. You, and you alone, are creating the world in which you now live. This is an important realisation.
- Flip-Switch your negative thoughts to positive thoughts
Life is always lived from the inside out. We all live our lives in the direction of our most dominant thoughts. When you are not sure about who you are and what you want in life you will only produce average results at best and more likely continue to experience frustration, sadness, depression and many other negative emotions that steal your energy, slow down your motivation and delay your success.
- Meditation
Clarity of thought is the first step to unlocking your potential. Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years to gain inner quiet for self-realisation, health or spiritual clarity. It was introduced in the western world to improve people’s lives through relaxation techniques and combat stress in a fast-paced world.
Meditation takes on many forms and expressions. It is much more than sitting quietly or chanting. Meditation can provide you with a direct pathway into your subconscious mind to and the knowing awareness that you have within yourself.
- Find an accountability partner
Speaking from experience, when you are on this personal journey, find an accountability partner that will support you e.g. friend, mentor or coach. Family members are great but from past experience and stories from others, family members will have a vested interest and on an unconscious level may not want you to change so they will say or do things that puts you down which then stops you from continuing.
Apply these 5 steps on a daily basis…
…and you are well on your way to experiencing positive changes. If this is something you have tried in the past and not seen results, or even if you’ve done lots of personal development work before, you can always do more.
