“Your Happy Child” Book Launch Gala – Thank You!

“Your Happy Child” Book Launch Gala

Last week on 16th November, I launched my book, “Your Happy Child, 10 Proven Steps To Raising A Happy Child” at Wanstead Golf Club, East London. Nearly 100 guests attended and I am thrilled to hear so much positive feedback from them.

We kicked off at 6.30pm with a glass of wine and some time for networking and meeting new friends. The guests took photos with our Facebook frame and bought raffle tickets for our charity raffle in aid of Haven House.

At 7pm, the wonderful Vicki Michelle (famed for playing Yvette on ‘Allo ‘Allo) kicked off proceedings with a warm welcome to the evening. I would like to thank you Vicki for taking time out of your diary to attend and keep us all entertained. You were marvellous. Vicki passed the mic over to our phenomenal MC Dean Williams who hosted the whole evening – keeping us on track and making everyone laugh all the way through.

3 Fantastic Speakers

We had 3 fantastic speakers, the first of which was Hussain Manawer. Hussain performed his poem “Am I going too deep?” and we got a bonus with his newest release, “The Playground.” What Hussain didn’t tell you is that his poem “Am I going to deep?” won him a trip to the moon. Your poems were inspirational.

Ola Aralepo was our second speaker – Ola’s very strong message through his speech was that parents need to listen to their children and encourage their ambition. Ola wanted to be an a-c-t-o-r but his dad heard it as d-o-c-t-o-r!

Last, but not least, Samantha Seager brought across another important message of building confidence in our children through games, drama and role play. This is where children learn their lessons about life and we need to encourage that.

My Interview With Dean & Special Comments

After the 3 speakers, I took to the stage to be interviewed by Dean about my book, my message and my journey. You can catch the interview on my Facebook page here.

After this we had a few comments from people who were instrumental in my journey – Danielle Holland (a parent who has done my workshop and is still on the front of my leaflet), my Mum and Dad, Angela Walsh (the Head Teacher at Glade where I work as a school counsellor) and Daniella Blechner of Conscious Dreams Publishing (my publisher).

Charity Raffle For Haven House

We wrapped up the speakers and went on to the raffle. Vicki Michelle picked the numbers are we gave out 15 prizes, all kindly donated by these organisations:

We raised £169 from the raffle which we are donating directly to Haven House.

We finished the evening with book signings and photos and refreshments before everyone made their way home, hopefully inspired by what they had heard during the evening and a few ideas they could go and implement and try out for themselves.

Thank You

I want to take some time to reflect on what an inspiring and successful evening it was and it was certainly a team effort. I would like to say a few thank yous.

Firstly, the night would not be possible without my lovely audience – thank you to everyone who came along on the night. I’m truly humbled and honoured.

Thank you to spirit for using me as a vessel to make some change in the world. Thank you to my parents for bringing me into this world.

Thank you to Vicki Michelle who moved things in her diary to attend and Iain Duncan Smith, my local MP, for coming along and fitting this in between TV appearances and other commitments.

Next I’d like to thank my sponsors – they all believed in my passion and supported me in more ways than one:

Thank you to the speakers, Hussain Manawer (who had to leave early to speak at another event for a homeless charity but still made time to come to my event), Ola Aralepo and Samantha Seager.

Thank you to Dean Williams from Exclusive Visions for MC’ing the event. Thank you to Daniella Blechner my book publisher from Conscious Dreams Publishing, Wendy Yorke my chief editor and David Brodie my graphic designer on call.

Thank you to my nieces and nephews for being my cherubs and helping in the background. Thanks to my parents and family.

The book writing journey, publishing and organising this book launch has been in process for the last 2 years and in that time, I have had so many supporters and people encouraging me to keep pushing – because that is how it has felt sometimes! There are too many names to mention but you all know who you are.

Last but not least, I want to thank my husband who has been my rock and coped with my differing emotions throughout the process. And my daughter Lena, who planted the seed of this whole process when she was born.

“Creating a warm caring, supportive, encouraging environment is probably the most important thing you can do for your family” – Stephen Covey
